Kilimanjaro National Park

Standing at 5895m, Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world as well as the 4th most prominent mountain in the world.

It is one of the world’s most famous landmarks and is a magnificent site with her white, ice-capped rim.

Sitting on the border of Tanzania and Kenya, and only 340km south of the equator, the peak is covered year-round my snow, ice and glaciers. Although scientists are predicting that the glaciers will have disappeared by 2020 due to solar radiation.

There are six official climbing routes by which to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, namely: Marangu, Rongai, Lemosho, Shira, Umbwe and Machame. Of all the routes, Machameis by far the most scenic albeit steeper route up the mountain, which can be done in six or seven days.
